Terolyn Watson

Ward 3 Councilwoman Terolyn Watson is a Fort Myers native and graduated from Fort Myers High School. Terolyn has worked for the Lee County School District for 28 years. She was elected as a member of city council in 2015. Currently, she is the assistant secretary of the National Black Caucus of Elected Officials. Watson loves to serve her community. ​

With roots deep in Ward 3, Councilwoman Watson loves nothing more than helping her community grow. With several initiatives under way and many more planned. The latest initiative being spearheaded by Councilwoman Terolyn Watson and Marcia Davis (CEO of The City of Fort Myers Housing Authority) was the redevelopment of the Edison Ave - Dunbar neighborhood. The "Choice Neighborhood Implementation Grant" was awarded to The City of Fort Myers. This is a three phase project of mixed-income, family housing and senior housing. As one of only five applicants to be awarded the grant, a huge part of the success was Councilwoman Watson's vision to submit a video of Ward 3 with the application. This was recognized by U.S. Housing and Urban Development as a different approach and played a key role in securing the grant.

While the last initiative is a big one, Councilwoman Watson has made significant headway on several other projects during her term. "Ban The Box" was a big initiative that allowed non-violent felony offenders the chance to apply for employment with the City of Fort Myers without having to disclose this on their application. It gives those that made a mistake the chance to be considered without being pre-judged by their record.
